1. Rules: The regatta shall be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing.
2. Organizing Authority: Lightning fleet #233 and the Ford Yacht Club, Grosse Ile, Michigan shall be
the organizing authority.
3. Eligibility: This regatta is open to all yachts and crews as described in Article V and VI of the ILCA
Class Rules. All participants must be ILCA members.
4. Entry Fee: Entry fee will be $35 for each boat
5. Registration: On Site Registration times are from 0800-0900 on August 21st, 2016 at the Ford
Yacht Club
6. Meals: Lunch will not be provided, it is recommended that each crew bring a lunch prior to
arriving at the club. There are limited resources nearby. Dinner will be served after the
conclusion of racing in the Dry Sail Area with beverages
7. VHF Radios: Use of VHF radios will be permitted for communication from the Race Committee
to competitors on a pre-determined channel specified in the SI s. The Race Committee will
attempt to make OCS announcements as well as other courtesy broadcasts. Each race team is
responsible for having its own VHF radio and for deciding whether or not to use it for monitoring
Race Committee announcements.
8. Sailing Instructions: SI s will be available at the time of registration.
9. Racing Area: The racing area will be on the mouth of the Detroit River/Lake Erie in the vicinity of
Government channel marker “Red Nun 2” with exact location to be determined by the Race
Committee
10. Safety: All boats are expected to comply with the safety equipment required by the ILCA Class
Rules.
11. Disclaimer: Ford Yacht Club, its members, employees, and/or agents will not be responsible for
any loss, damage, or injury that may occur to persons or property, whether ashore or at sea as a
consequence of the participation of any competing yacht in any way.
12. Prizes: Awards will be given to the top three finishers.

d. No warning signal after 1500- results after conclusion of racing

a. Lightning event coincides with the Annual FYC Sail Regatta. We encourage all participants to come down and enjoy the party! PHRF racing is scheduled for Saturday, August 20th. For Lightning teams looking to come down and race Saturday, contact info@fycsailing.com
