FROSTBITE REGATTA

1. RULES
1.1.The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of
Sailing.
1.2.Competing boats shall comply with their respective one design class rules.
1.3.Racing will not be started with sustained winds over 25 knots.
2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1.The regatta is open to all Force 5, Finn and Lightning class sailboats.
2.2.Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached entry form, registering on
www.noticeofrace.net and paying the appropriate fee(s) at registration.
Registration on www.noticeofrace.net is a prerequisite to starting and being
scored. Entries will be accepted until 1030 hours on the first day of racing.
3. FEES
3.1.All classes have an entry fee of $25.
4. SCHEDULE
4.1.Registration: Registration is open until 1030 hours on the day of racing.
4.2.The first warning signal for the first class will be no earlier than 1200 hours on
each day of racing.
4.3.A maximum of 5 races are scheduled for each day.
4.4.No races will be started after 1500 hours.
5. MEASUREMENTS
5.1.Each boat shall produce proof of a valid class membership for the calendar year.
6. VENUE
6.1.Attachment A shows the location of the racing area
7. THE COURSES
7.1.The diagrams in Attachment A shows the available courses, the corresponding
signal that the race committee signal boat will use to identify that a course has
been selected, the order in which the marks are to be passed, the side on which
each mark is to be left, and approximate course lengths.
8. PENALTY SYSTEM
8.1.For all classes, rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turn Penalty is replaced by
the One-Turn Penalty.
9. SUPPORT BOATS
9.1.Support boats shall be marked with a “RC” flag or “Race Patrol” flag.
10.RADIO COMMUNICATION
10.1. Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions
while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats except
as provided in the sailing instructions. The restriction also applies to mobile
telephones.
10.2. The Race Committee will make general announcements on and monitor
VHF channel 71
11.PRIZES
11.1. At minimum, prizes will be given as follows: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place will be
awarded for each class with sufficient entries.
12.DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
12.1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4,
Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for
material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or
prior to, during, or after the regatta.
13.INSURANCE
13.1. The owner of each participating boat is responsible to maintain liability
insurance on his or her vessel. A minimum of $300,000 liability coverage is
recommended.
