Ford Yacht Club offers perpetual trophies for the Boat of the Year in PHRF Spinnaker and PHRF JAM. To be eligible for these prestigious awards you must meet the following criteria:
-Be a member of Ford Yacht Club in good standing
-If entering for PHRF Spinnaker or PHRF JAM, have a valid 2015 PHRF-LE certificate
-If entering for the One Design class, have a valid 2015 one design class certificate
-PHRF Spinnaker and PHRF JAM: Complete a minimum of seven counter races for your class. (Boats competing in PHRF classes may race in alternative class only if their normal class is not available, e.g. a JAM boat may use a spinnaker race where there is no JAM class.) Your best seven races of the qualifiers listed on page 2 will be counted.
-One Design: Complete a minimum of four One Design Races counter races for your class. Your best four races of the qualifiers listed on page 2 will be counted.
-Race at least two of the FYC races designated (**) below in your class.
-PHRF boats must race at least one of the races listed below offered by each, Grosse Ile Yacht Club and West Shore Sail Club. (This is a reciprocal agreement with these clubs.)
-You must submit your intent to qualify for FYC boat of the year by August 1st, 2015.
-You must submit results with number of boats entered and finishing for races you wish to be considered by October 7th, 2015.
The winner of each trophy will be determined by using the Cox-Sprague system described in the 2009 US Sailing Race Management Handbook to calculate each yachts series class percentage of perfection. The boat with the highest percentage of perfection will be named Boat of the Year for their respective class. In the case of a tie, the following procedure will be used:
1)The Cox-Sprague percentage of perfection based only on 2 required Ford Yacht Club races
2)The Cox-Sprague percentage of perfection based only on 3 Ford Yacht Club races
3)The Cox-Sprague percentage of perfection based on the best 8 counter races.
To submit your intent to qualify for FYC boat of the year, log onto www.noticeofrace.net and register for 2015 FYC Boat of the Year PHRF Spinnaker, 2015 FYC Boat of the Year PHRF JAM, or 2014 PHRF FYC Boat of the Year One Design by August 1st, 2015.
To submit your race results, please write your name, boat name, and class competing for on an envelope and place it in the sail committee mailbox located in the Ford Yacht Club lobby. Your results must be submitted by October 7th, 2015.
