Tri-Again was R/C this time, and had a heck of a time getting the anchor to set in the wind and waves. Its not so much the anchor, but the fact that the boat likes to go sideways instead of backing down to set the anchor. About 5 minutes after the last start, it was clear that the anchor did indeed set, and it took probably 15 minutes to free from the clay bottom.
Sea Turtle took the start (twice). Seems there was confusion as the rest of the fleet looked to "Bad-Idea" for leadership. But the "Bad Idea" had no intention of starting this race with no smaller sails and a short supply of rum and hung back as a spectator, thus creating confusion as to who was starting when. The Catalina fleet discovered their start was underway with just a few minutes to go and the JAM fleet finally got underway shortly thereafter.
In the Catalina Class, there were 3 competitors, however only one was registered. (#5831)
